Sun City Center, FL - Francis Robert Magee, 84, of 1802 Bedford Lane, Sun City Center, FL, and 17 Kempsen Street, Newport, died Wednesday, November 10, 2004, at South Bay Hospital, Sun City Center, FL.He was the husband of Anne Moriarty Magee. Born in Newport, RI, on August 12, 1920, he was the son of the late James and Sarah Brown Magee. Mr. and Mrs. Magee had recently celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary. Mr. Magee had worked as the assistant manager for 10 years at John Hancock Life Insurance Company and as a debit agent for 20 years at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, retiring in 1979. He was a Veteran of the US Navy, serving during WWII and the Koreran Conflict. He was a Graduate of Rogers High School, Class of 1940, and had attended the University of Rhode Island, where he played football. In his youth he pitched in the Sunset League at Cardines Field in Newport, and his cousin Bernie was the catcher. He was also a member of the Varsity Club. Mr. Magee was a member of the Bishop McLaughin Knights of Columbus in Sun City Center, FL, the Edward King Center in Newport, RI, the 5th Ward Club of Newport, RI, and the Kiwanis Club of Newport, RI. He was an avid golfer and belonged to the Kings Point Country Club in Sun City Center, FL, and enjoyed playing at the Jamestown Country Club in Jamestown, RI, as a member of the ?Sticky Buns? club. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons Francis R. Magee Jr. of Lincroft, NJ, and Thomas H. Magee of Satellite Beach, FL, two daughters Barbara Berube of Plymouth, MA, and Mary E. Magee of Newport, RI, a brother James Magee of Sarasota, FL, a sister Ruth Mulcahy of Sarasota, FL, three granddaughters Alison Magee of Satellite Beach, FL, Erin Magee of Satellite Beach, FL, and Melissa Berube of Providence, RI, and a grandson Michael Berube of Middleboro, MA.His funeral will be held Thursday, November 18, 2004, at 9:00AM, from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM, in St. Josephs Church, Broadway And Mann Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery, Brown?s Lane, Middletown.
