Francis Thomas Best Jr

Francis Thomas Best, Jr., age 83, of Bristol, and formerly of Portsmouth, died Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at Newport Hospital. Mr. Best was born August 19, 1933, in Newport, RI, the son of the late Francis T. and the late Ruth M. Best. He was the husband for 56 years of Mary Anne (MacDonald) Best.Mr. Best graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Sharon, MA, and then went on to proudly serve in the US Air Force for 20 years, including the Korean War. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus and VFW Post #5390 in Portsmouth. He was also a member of the National Air Force Sergeants Association.Besides his wife, Mary Anne, he is survived by one daughter, Kathryn Anne Best of Portsmouth, RI, one sister, Mary Lamalie of Stuart, FL, and three grandchildren, Jacob D., Caitlyn A., and Jessica M. Mumme and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Leo J.
