Middletown, RI - Frank A. Botelho, Jr., 94, of Middletown, RI, and Pompano Beach and Palm Coast, FL, passed away peacefully at Newport Hospital on Saturday, April 2, 2011.He is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Margaret Louise Silvia Botelho. Born in New Bedford, MA, on April 11, 1916, he was the son of the late Frank A. and Almorinda DeMello Botelho.Frank grew up on his family farm in Middletown and graduated from Rogers High School in Newport to which he had to walk many miles. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was the past president of the Pompano Beach Golf View Estates Homeowners Association. Frank was also a charter member and past president of the Middletown Lions Club, past commander of the American Legion, Town Sergeant, Town Sealer of Weights and Measures, and a chairman of the Middletown Budget Committee. He had a 32 year sales career with the Nabisco Company and was known on Aquidneck Island as the cookie man, by young and old. After retiring from Nabisco he established and operated the Aquidneck Liquors store until he retired again in 2000. Frank was an avid golfer and a member of Wanumetonomy Golf and Country Club. He enjoyed travelling with family and friends, especially to Las Vegas, Portugal, Italy and wintering in Florida. He also enjoyed large gatherings with those close to him. Besides his wife, he is survived by his son Frank Botelho and his wife Pamela of Palm Coast, FL, his siblings Alfred and his wife Arminda of Athens, GA, Louis and his wife Ora of Middletown, RI, Richard and his wife Ethel of Jamestown, RI, Almorinda Medeiros of Vero Beach, FL, Olga DeMello and Agnes Michael and her husband Charles of Middletown, RI, and Virginia Jennings and her husband Sid of Newport, RI, his brothers-in-law Arthur Silvia and his wife Vivian, William Silvia, Raymond Silvia and Daniel Sheehan of Holbrook, MA, and his sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Betty Silvia and her husband Charles of Virginia Beach, VA, Joan Holthaus and her husband Ken of Edina, Minnesota and Dorothy Silvia of Middletown, RI and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.He was the grandfather of the late Craig Botelho and the brother of the late Joseph, George and Manuel Botelho of Middletown, and the brother in law of the late Francis Silvia of Middletown and the late Patricia Sheehan of Holbrook, MA. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2011, from 4-7pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. His funeral will be held on Friday, April 8, 2011, at 8:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in St. Marys Church, Spring Street, Newport.
