Newport, RI - Frank Albert Shorey, Jr., 63, of 30 East Bowery Street Newport, died Sunday, December 5, 2004 at home after a couregous battle with cancer.He was the husband of Carol Donnelly Shorey. Born in Newport, RI on December 16, 1940, he was the son of the late Frank Albert Shorey and Christina Almy Shorey Hinton. Mr. Shorey owned and operated Shorey?s Lock, in Newport for twenty-four years. He was a life time member of the Newport Lodge of Elks and was past exulted ruler. He served in the US Marines for 4 years. He was a life member of the Fleet Reserve and a past board member. Frank was also a life member of the Idle Club. A member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Middletown. Mr. Shorey enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, traveling, cabinet making and watching John Wayne western movies. He is survived by his wife Carol Shorey of Newport, RI, three daughters Denise Davis of Portsmouth, RI, Debra Nellis of Newport, RI, and Diane Saez of Middletown, RI, and five grandchildren.He was the brother of the late Kenneth Shorey. His funeral will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2004 at 1:00pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.
