Middletown, RI - Frank David Pedro, 93 of 113 Prospect Avenue, Middletown, RI, formerly of 495 Sutton Street, Northbridge, MA died Saturday, November 21, 2009.He was the husband of Isabella Mary Yinkot Pedro.Born in Middletown, RI on February 17, 1916, he was the son of the late Manuel and Theresa Medeiros Pedro.Mr. Pedro served in WWII in the United States Army in Company A 328th Infantry Regiment 26th YD and was a S/Sgt rifleman and gunner. He sustained an injury to his leg in battle in Germany and was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.After the war, Frank married his Army buddys sister Isabella Yinkot and in 1952 they built and operated the Meadowlark Mobile Home Park in Middletown, where they befriended many military family tenants for twenty five years. An expert mechanic with many interests and talents, he enjoyed fixing things for friends and neighbors. He also enjoyed fishing and wildlife, dancing and travel. He toured the U.S. with his wife after retiring. He was a life member of the VFW and the DAV. Mr. Pedro was a communicant of Jesus Saviour Church.Frank was known to his family and many friends as someone who opened his heart and home without hesitation.He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years and many nieces and nephews.He was the brother of the late Manuel Nones, Arthur Pedro, Jesse Pedro, Alfred Pedro and Gladys Parvo-Flowers. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at 10:00am, from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway and Vernon Avenue, Newport.Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 in the funeral home.
