Frank R. Machado, Jr. of Newport, RI passed away on Friday, July 10, 2015 after a short illness at the Village House Nursing Home of Newport, RI. He was born in Newport on December 15, 1926, the son of the late Francisco and Francelina Machado. He was the brother of the late Irene Machado Wright, Lawrence Machado and brother-in-law Benjamin Wright. He leaves his Godson, Mark P. Reedenauer and his family of Concord, NH and several cousins in the local area. He attended Newport Schools and left Rogers High School to go into the service in 1943.He is an Army Veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific.Frank was employed by Transcom Electronics for 25 years both in Newport and later in Portsmouth where Transcom built a new facility. After retiring, he cared for his aging mother until she passed away in 1986. He then enjoyed his yearly tip to Miami to visit his sister Irene and brother-in-law Ben, relaxing in the sun. He loved going and sitting in King's Park, sunning himself in his backyard and taking drives around the Ocean Drive, taking in all the beautiful sights.Frank was a member of Jesus Saviour Church and in earlier years sung in the choir. He was one of the first children baptized in the newly established Jesus Saviour Church, which held services in the Holy Ghost Hall on Fenner Avenue, before the new church was built on Vernon Avenue.Calling hours will be held Wednesday morning from 7:30am to 8:30am in the Memorial Funeral Home.Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 15, at 8:30am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, followed Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00am in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway at Vernon Avenue, Newport.Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery, Middletown.Donations in his memory may be made to the Jesus Saviour Church, St. Vincent de Paul Society, 1 Vernon Avenue, Newport, RI 02840 Cemetery Details St. Columba's Catholic Cemetery Brown's Lane Middletown, RI, Visitation JUL 15. 07:30 AM - 08:30 AM Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway Newport, RI, US, 02840
