Middletown, RI - Frank Robert Digovanni, 81, of 136 Newport Avenue, Middletown, RI, died Sunday, August 2, 2009 at home.He was the husband of Beatrice Price Digovanni. Born in Ansonia, CT on February 27, 1928, he was the son of the late Carmelo and Mary Panzeralla Digovanni.Mr. Digovanni served in the United States Navy and Marine Corps during World War II. After serving in the USMC he worked at the US Naval Depot, Naval Underwater Center and Raytheon Sub Signal division before entering US Secret Service as a US Sky Marshal in 1971. From 1972 to his retirement from the government in 1986 Frank was a supervisory agent for US Customs Tactical Enforcement Division of the US Treasury Department. During his tenure with US Customs, Frank received the Commissions Citation in 1974 and Treasury Department highest award for Valor in 1987. Franks final assignment was when he worked in the Customs Task Force under President Bush. He umpired for the Newport and Middletown Little League, Babe Ruth League and the Sunset Leagues. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. Besides his wife of 43 years, he is survived by his children John L. Deveau, Jr. of Portsmouth, RI, James T. Deveau of Kinnelon, NJ, and Kathleen E. Langley of Newport, RI, and eight grandchildren Morgan Langley, Benjamin Langley, Matthew Langley, Ian Deveau, Michael Deveau, Brian Deveau and LauriAnn Deveau. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, at 12:30pm, in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Burial will be in Middletown Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, from 6-9 in the funeral home.
