Pensacola, FL - Franz Germann, 73, of Pensacola, FL, formerly of Newport, RI, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at his home in Pensacola, FL. Born in Hann Muenden, Germany on December 8, 1938, he was the son of the late August and Margarete Moritz Germann.Franz moved to the US as a young man, and attended Rogers High School graduating in the class of 1958. He served in the US Army for several years, until 1961. He began work in Newport, and worked at several local companies, including KVH, Raytheon, Transcom, Aquidneck Lanes, and Walsh Brothers. He loved fishing, bowling, cooking, and gardening. Franz was a semi-pro bowler, bowling on TV and bowling three 300 games, he was also an avid fisherman. He recently moved to Florida to be closer to his daughters and grandchildren. He is survived by his three daughters Gina Germann, Heidi Chism, and Heather Green all of Florida, a brother Henry Germann of Ontario, Canada, and two sisters Lotte Busche of Middletown, RI, and Margot Droual of Newport, RI, and his grandchildren David Chism, Brittany Chism, Bishop Morris, and Camille Germann, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a sister Emmy McAllister.His funeral will be held on Saturday, March 31, at 10:00 am in Hambly Funeral Home, 30 Red Cross Avenue, Newport. Burial with military honors will be in Trinity Cemetery in Portsmouth.
