Born in Portsmouth, RI on December 11, 1928, he was the son of the late Lloyd A. and Della Phillips Sisson.Mr. Sisson attended schools in Portsmouth, Bristol and Newport. As a teenager, he worked summers at The Glen in Portsmouth. After serving 3 years in the US Army, he worked at the Grey Craig estate in Middletown, Vaucluse in Portsmouth and The Glen greenhouses in Portsmouth. He was also sexton at St. Marys Episcopal Church in Portsmouth for 13 years. He retired after 19 years with the Maintenance Department of the Housing Authority of Newport. He was President of the Union Cemetery Corporation for several years. He was a member of the National Audubon Society and was a longtime Yankees fan.He was the brother of the late Elwyn Lloyd Sisson and father of the late Shirley Anne Sisson. He leaves four sons, Frederic A. Sisson of Fall River, MA, Fletcher A. Sisson of Middletown, RI, Lloyd A. Sisson of Newport, RI and Jonathan A. Sisson of Portsmouth, RI. He leaves one daughter, Lynn A. Sisson of Bristol, RI and three grandchildren, Andrew, Jeremy and Matthew.Following cremation, there will be a private graveside service for the family.Memorial donations may be made to the Portsmouth Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Fund, PO Box 806, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
