G. Elinor Peckham

Portsmouth, RI ? G. Elinor Christensen Peckham, 65, of 31 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI, died Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI She was the wife of Ashley Hall Peckham. Born in Centereach, NY on September 1, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Gudrun Hansen Christensen.Mrs. Peckham was the Innkeeper for Bestemor?s House. Elinor attended the former Barrington College in Barrington, RI and the North Eastern Bible College in Essex Falls, NY. Elinor was a member of St. Marys Episcopal Church in East Providence, RI and volunteered for many committees in Diocesan work in the youth activities and had been president of the Episcopal Diocesan?s Women. Mrs. Peckham was also a member of the Portsmouth Garden Club and the Dover Lodge #232 Sons of Norway, which was established in 1884 and was the activities director. Elinor loved her Norwegian heritage, her flower garden and her home. Besides her husband of 43 years, she is survived by her son Michael Richard Peckham and his wife Cindy Marie Austin Peckham of Orlando, FL, her brothers Jack Christensen of Portland, ME, and Roy Christensen of Port Jervis, NY, her grandsons William Jacob Peckham and Harrison Hall Peckham of Orlando, FL.She was the mother of the late John Ashley Peckham and the sister of the late Marie Tansi. Her funeral will be held on Monday, June 18, 2007, at 11:00 am in St. Pauls Episcopal Church, 2679 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in St. Pauls Churchyard in Portsmouth.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 17, 2007, from 4-7pm in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.
