G. Leroy Richardson

PORTSMOUTH, RI - G. Leroy (Roy) Richardson, 69, of Portsmouth, RI, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 with his family by his side.He was the son of the late F. Gilbert Richardson and Mary E. (Kaull) Richardson.He is survived by his wife of 48 years Dorothy (Dickinson) Richardson, his daughter Diana Jordan and her husband Shawn of Englewood, FL, his son Leroy M. Richardson and his wife Naomi of Jamestown, RI, four grandchildren, Alexis, Leroy Jr. and Hailey Richardson all of Jamestown and Nicole Jordan of Englewood, FL, his sister Cecelia "Cis" Gors of Idaho and many cousins, nephews and nieces.Roy (as he was known to many) made his home with his wife first in Jamestown where he was active in the Jamestown Fire Department and the Jamestown Ambulance where he was an Officer and also a Commander and is still a member of the Fire Department. By trade he was an oil burner technician for several different oil companies before his retirement. He ran a horse boarding farm in Portsmouth for many years at High Hopes Farm his home for the past 20 years. Contributions can be made in his memory to one of the three charities, the American Cancer Society of RI, 931 Jefferson Boulevard, Warwick RI 02886, Home and Hospice Care of RI, 1088 North Main Street, Providence, RI or the Jamestown Fire Department, 50 Narragansett Avenue, Jamestown, RI 02835. Per his wishes services will be private and no calling hours. The family plans on a memorial to be at a later date. Thank you.
