Gabriel John Vivieros PORTSMOUTH, RI - Gabriel John Vivieros, 84, of 271 Sprague Street, Portsmouth, RI, formerly of Newport, RI, died Thursday, April 28, 2005, at the Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. He was the husband of Doris Blanche Dyer Vivieros of Portsmouth, RI. Born in Fall River, MA, on August 31, 1920, he was the son of the late Francisco and Mary Sousa Vivieros.Mr. Vivieros was the owner and operator of Gabe Vivieros Heating Company for 30 years, retiring in 1983. He had also worked for Reliable Oil Company of Newport for many years and did carpentry work and remodeling. Mr. Vivieros was a member of The Newport Knights of Columbus 3rd degree, and President of the Squires program for the children at The Newport Knights of Columbus. Mr. Vivieros was a communicant of St. Anthonys Church, and was a former member of the Holy Name Society of St. Marys Church in Newport. Besides his wife of 66 years, he is survived by his sons Robert G. Vivieros of Portsmouth, RI, Thomas J. Vivieros of Portsmouth, RI, his sister Mary Marshall of Fall River, MA, three grandchildren, two step grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his sisters Albertina Perry, Elsie Botelho, and Doris Trabert, and a brother Frank Vivieros.His funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at 9:00AM, from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM, in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2005, in the funeral home from 4-8pm. Memorial donations may be made to the Portsmouth Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Wagon Fund, P.O. Box 806, Portsmouth, RI, 02871.
