Gail Ann Greer

Gail Ann Greer, 67, of Newport, RI, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 11, 2012 with family and friends at her side. Born in Newport, RI on July 26, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Edith (Conklin) Greer.Gail was a graduate of St. Catherines School in Newport and Salve Regina University. She was a teacher in the Middletown Public School System and at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. She loved traveling, raising dogs and cats, reading, Spanish Culture and Native American Art. She is survived by her cousins, Patrick and Susan McCarthy, Robert and Cheryl McCarthy, and Carol McCarthy, all of Albuquerque, NM, Douglas Vogel and Sharon Vogel of Newport, RI, Lynnda Lutz of Middletown, RI; and many other cousins and great friends. She was predeceased by her Aunt Mabel Allen, her Uncle Hedley Greer and her Aunt Barbara M. McCarthy. A graveside inurnment service will be held at a future date to be announced in St. Columba Cemetery, Browns Lane, Middletown. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gails memory may be made to the Potter League for Animals, PO Box 412, Newport, RI 02840. Also, beginning this year the Foreign Language Excellence Award will be given in her memory, donations may be made to Middletown Public Schools, c/o Spanish Excellence Award, 26 Oliphant Lane , Middletown RI 02842.
