Middletown, RI - Gail C. Goff Smith, 66, of 1652 West Main Road, Middletown, RI, died Sunday, August 21, 2011 at home surrounded by her family.Born in Newport, RI on December 2, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Catherine Short Goff.In her youth Gail played in the local womens softball league. She worked for First National Market and Shaws for many years. Gail was a loving mother and grandmother who loved nothing more then spending time with her family.She is survived by her sons, William F. Smith and his wife Sylvia of Lincoln, RI, Christopher M. Smith of Tiverton, RI, Craig M. Smith and his wife Rhonda of Middletown, RI, and Daniel P. Smith and his wife Kristen of Portsmouth, RI, her brother Harold Goff of Newport, RI, and eight grandchildren.She was the sister of the late Ronald J. Goff and the former wife of the late Frederick W. Smith, Jr.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2011, from 4:00-8:00pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.Her funeral will be held on Friday, August 26, 2011, at 8:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown.Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.Donations in her memory may be made to the Middletown Rescue Wagon Fund, 239 Wyatt Road, Middletown, RI 02842.
