Garry A. Allan

Garry Andrew Allan, 55, of Portsmouth died Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center in Providence, RI. He was the husband of Lori (Fisch) Allan.Born on March 22, 1957 in Newport, RI, he was the son of the late Thomas "Stanley" and Mary (Cusick) Allan. A lifelong Newporter, Garry worked for NUWC as an Engineer Technician in research and development, specializing in torpedo retrieving and explosive handling. His work took him to many places Hawaii, Guam, the Arctic Circle and San Diego. Garry was a handyman around the house and enjoyed fishing, NASCAR and was an avid Yankee Fan.Besides his wife of 25 years, he is survived by his children, Amanda L. Goodison and her husband Jamie of East Providence, RI, Stephanie B. Allan of Portsmouth, RI, Blake A. Allan of Manhatten, NY and Andrew J. Allan of Portsmouth, RI, his brother Thomas Allan of Middletown, RI, and his sister SR. Carol A. Allan, SSJ, of Chicopee, MA. He was pops to Cole Manchester, Braelynn Barbosa, Ana-Lynn Goodison and Dean Goodison.He was the father of his late infant daughter Michelle Allan.Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 4, 2013, from 10:00am to 1:00pm, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 1:00pmHis burial will be private.
