Gary Eckert

Gary Thomas Eckert, 53, of 28 Hilltop Avenue, Middletown, RI, died Tuesday, August 29, 2006, at home. Born in Bainbridge, MD, on January 10, 1953, he was the son of Gladys S. Yeager Eckert of Middletown, RI, and the late William E. Eckert. Mr. Eckert had worked as an independent service consultant for over 20 years. He was a Veteran of the USAF serving during the Vietnam Era as a Sargeant, while being stationed in Korea. Gary received several Unit Citations for his service during the Vietnam Era. He was a graduate of Middletown High School. After the Air Force, Gary had worked at the Naval Education and Training Center in the police department. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Washington Redskins. He enjoyed may summer days at the beach with his family. Gary was also an avid gardener. In addition to his mother, he is survived by two brothers Ronald R. Eckert and his wife Kathleen of Lake Ridge, VA, and William E. Eckert and his wife Clara of Narragansett, RI, five nieces Cindy S. Baer of Cranston, RI, Debra M. Doncaster of Newport, RI, Kelly Eckert of St. Louis, MO, Kristin M. Nees and her husband Michael of Richmond, VA, and Kimberly Eckert of Fairfax, VA, three great nephews, and two great nieces.
