Gary James Bednarski

Gary J. Bednarski, of Fish Road, Tiverton, RI, died on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center in Providence.He was the husband of the late Nancy J. (Sudol) Bednarski.Born in Hartford, CT on October 1, 1946, he was the son of the late John and Helen (Karsky) Bednarski.Mr. Bednarski was a parts manager for several area auto dealerships before retiring. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Gary was a die-hard Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. He was a former assistant coach with Pop Warner. In his youth, he was an award winning weight lifting competitor and in later years held weight lifting clinics for local children.He is survived by three sons, Michael Bednarski of Tiverton, RI, Brian Bednarski of Morristown, NJ and Jason Bednarski of Buckhannon, WV; his grandchildren, Michelle, Kaitlyn, Kristin, Matthew, Owen, Jozef and Sophie; his great-grandchild, Avery; and his brother and sisters, Richard Bednarski, Judy Valios, Brenda Paris and Carol Ferrelli. He was predeceased by his brothers, Bob and John Bednarski.A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2014 from 1 to 3 pm with family reflections at 2 pm in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
