Gary M. Garabedian, 61, of Barrington, RI, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center in Providence, RI. Gary was born July 4, 1954 in Brooklyn, NY. He is the son of the late Harry and Violet (Boyajian) Garabedian of Middletown, RI. Gary was a longtime participant in the James L. Maher Center day programs, and worked on the Newport Navy Base, as well as in the Bristol Work Program. He enjoyed visiting with family, watching movies and collecting magazines in his free time.He is survived by his siblings, Anne Pacheco, George Garabedian, Victoria "Tori" Byrd, and Jack Garabedian, as well as nieces and nephews, Kevin Garabedian, John Pacheco, Kyle Byrd, Alexis Byrd and the late Melanie Creador, in addition to great-nephews, Joseph, Brian, Noah, and Sean. He is also survived by his uncle, Varoujan Garbedian of Onset, MA, Uncle Michael Minasian of Tarrytown, NY, and his Aunt and Uncle, Mary and Armen Boyajian of Ardsley, NY, and many cousins. He also leaves his extended family of caregivers, past and present, at the James L. Maher Upland Way Home in Barrington, RI and the Maher Center Day Program in Bristol, RI. Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 from 9:00-9:30 a.m. in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI, with a funeral service in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Newport Memorial Park, Middletown, RI.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to James L.
