Gene C. Leek

Middletown, RI - Gene Leek, 62, of 738 Forest Park, Middletown, RI, died Monday, November 10, 2008 at home. Born in St. Joseph, Missouri on December 4, 1945, he was the son of Jerry Patton Leek of Middletown, and the late Gene B. Leek.Gene graduated from DeLaSalle Academy in Newport and the University of Rhode Island. Gene worked for many years in retail, as a manager for several stores including Woolworth and Woolco, and Wal-Mart more recently. He also worked in private property maintenance in Newport. Gene was a friend of Bill W. Besides his mother Jerry Leek of Middletown, RI, he is also survived by three daughters Doreen Caruso of Fairfield, CT, Marie Cookson of Cornith, Maine, and Jessica Leek of Kingston, NY, and five grandchildren, Michael McPadden, Allison and Christopher Caruso, and Ciearra, Isabelle and Isaiah Cookson. His funeral will be held on Friday, 1:00pm in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held Friday from 12:00 noon to 1:00pm, before the service in the Memorial Funeral Home.
