Funeral services will be held Monday, January 3, 2005 in Newport, RI for Geneve Lillian Grant. Geneve went to be with Jesus December 26. She was living with her daughter and son-in-law in Louisiana at the time of her death. Geneve was born and raised in Portsmouth, VA. After marrying her beloved Navy Sailor Bob in July 1940, she moved away from Portsmouth going wherever Bob was stationed in the Navy, finally settling in Middletown, RI after Bob retired. She and Bob raised three girls, Norma Lillian Bard of Milton, VT, Eileen Geneve Quereau of Lafayette, LA, and Janet Alma Turzak of Chicago, IL. She was a stay at home mom and just loved to sew for her girls. She was a member of Eastern Star in Middletown and later in Lafayette, LA. She was totally devoted to her husband and cared for him for 15 years after he was disabled. After Bob?s death, she moved to Lafayette, LA with her daughter Eileen and son-in-law Worthy and right away felt at home in the South. While in Lafayette, she was active in Eastern Star, her church and the senior citizens center. She was also able to spend quality time with her great-grandchildren. Survivors include her three daughters, Norma and her husband Larry Bard, Eileen and her husband Worthy Quereau, and Janet and her husband Tom Turzak; her brother, Thomas Sebrell and his wife, Ruby of Staunton, VA. She has seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren all of whom she adored. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lillian Buckwalter Sebrell and Thomas Horton Sebrell, her brother Elmer Sebrell and her beloved husband Robert Charles Grant. Visitation will be at Hambly Funeral Home on Red Cross Ave in Newport, RI on Sunday, January 2, 2005 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A private graveside service will be held at Middletown Cemetery on Monday, January 3, 2005. The family would like to thank her special angels who cared for her at home when she wasn?t able. They are Alma Broussard, Kathy Noel, and Rena Frances. A special thanks to Hospice of Acadiana, Rev. Noah Langly, and Lona Carroll, RN, her nurse for all their support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Lafayette, LA 70503. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, is in charge of all funeral arrangements.
