George A. Bennett

Newport, RI - George A. Bennett, 77, of Girard Avenue, Newport, formerly of 48 Elm Street, Newport, RI, died Tuesday, April 20, 2004 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI.He was the former husband of the late Barbara Wood Bennett Dennis. Born in Newport, RI on July 8, 1926, he was the son of the late William and Marion Wood Bennett. Mr. Bennett worked for over 40 years as an auto mechanic for the former West Auto Service and most recently delivered supplies for J S Auto Supply. He was a member of the Order of Redman, and one of the original Viking Riders. Mr. Bennett was an avid fisherman and motorcycle rider. He is survived by two daughters Harriet Lemieux and Cynthia A. Bennett Bird both of Newport, RI, six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.He was the brother of the late William Bennett, Charlotte Coleman, and Alice Millington. His funeral will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2004, at 11:00AM, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.
