KENT, GEORGE E., 67, of Wakefield passed away Thursday, June 15, 2006 at home with his family.He was the husband of Judy Kent and husband of the late Marie A. McWeeney Kent. He was born November 30, 1938, in Valley Falls the son of the late George E. and Inez Mahoney Kent. George graduated from LaSalle Academy. He was employed by the Providence Journal and served in the United States Marine Corps. He was appointed to the Rhode Island State Police where Lt. Kent served for 21 years from 1960 to 1981. He was assigned to the Detective Division, Bureau of Criminal Identification and served as Patrol Commander of the Portsmouth and Wickford barracks. Following his retirement from the State Police he was employed by FedEx as the Southern New England Senior Security Specialist based in Warwick, RI until his retirement in 2001. Besides his wife Judy, he leaves his two daughters, Lisa I. Sullivan and her husband Rhode Island State Police Sgt. Frank D. Sullivan of Middletown and Kristen M. Jenkins and her husband Rhode Island National Guard Sgt. Joseph F. Jenkins of North Kingstown. He was the adored ?papa? of his four grandchildren, Owen and Brendan Sullivan and Kylie and Braden Jenkins. He is also survived by his step-family Christopher and his wife Saudhy and Dominic Musso of New Jersey. Funeral Services will be held, Thursday, June 22, 2006 at 9:00a.m. from the Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway, Newport, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00a.m. in St. Mark Church, 60 Narragansett Avenue Jamestown. Burial will take place in St. Mark Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4-8 in the funeral home.
