George R. Leeber, 87, of Middletown, RI, passed away peacefully Monday, August 8, 2011.He was the husband of Helen Syrko Leeber.Born in Elkins, WV on November 15, 1923, he was the son of the late Donato and Josephine Tocci Leeber.George was a US Navy veteran of World War II. For 37 years, he worked for Raytheon, retiring as a Quality Assurance Engineer in 1988. George was also a member of the Middletown Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed RVing with his wife and was a member of the Seaside Sam RV Club. Besides his wife of 63 years, he is survived by two sons: Michael Leeber and wife Clara of Waynesville, MO and Timothy Leeber of Middletown, RI, and a daughter Teresa Maliszewski of Middletown, RI; his grandchildren Michael Leeber, Sandra Leeber, Matthew Leeber, Kaitlyn Parascandolo and Kristen Maliszewski, as well as a great grandson Michael Leeber. He was preceded in death by his son George Leeber Jr., and siblings Anthony Leeber, Daisy Palma, Blaise Leeber, Frank Leeber, Nicholas Leeber, Joseph Leeber, Mary Caruso, Ann Marchitelli, Stella Filosa, Patrick Leeber, and Reverend Victor Leeber SJ. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 10, from 4 pm to 8 pm at Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI. His funeral will be held on Thursday, August 11, at 8:00 am, from Connors Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, at 9:00am, in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown, RI. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery, Middletown, RI. Memorial donations may be made in his name to The Tomorrow Fund, 593 Eddy Street, Providence, RI 02903-4947.
