George Richard Steffes

George Richard Steffes, 66, of 5 Sherri Lane Middletown, formerly of 124 Vernon Avenue Middletown, died Saturday, April 12, 2003 at home. Born in River Rouge, MI on July 26, 1936, he was the son of the late Harold and Margaret Frasier Steffes. Mr. Steffes served in the Navy for 15 years. He was a Mechanic Technician for the Vitro Corp for 15 years, he had also worked for I B M and most recently for Napa Auto Parts. Mr. Steffes was an avid golfer having recently shot an 88 this past year. He loved driving, especially to visit family in Florida and Michigan. He was a member of the Newport Elks, Middletown VFW 4487, DAV and the All Vets Club. He is survived by his loving Companion Rita Brown of Middletown, RI, a son George R. Steffes Jr. of San Diego, CA, a daughter Marcie Steffes of San Diego, CA, three brothersHarold Steffes of Spring Hill, FL, Robert Steffes of Southgate, MI, and Lawrence Steffes of Woonsocket, RI, three sisters Mary Jump of Trenton, MI, Lila Green of Riverview, MI, and Janice Steffes of Michigan. His funeral will be held on Wednesday April 16, 2003 at 1:00PM in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
