George Robert Keckler was born on April 3, 1958, in Fort Fairfield, Maine. He was the loving son of George Elmer Keckler and Dorothy Anna Keckler, both deceased, and is survived by his younger sister, Kimberly Keckler of Boston, MA. It is with great sadness that we report that he died on November 15, 2023 from liver cancer. George was a graduate from Middletown High School in 1976 and the University of Rhode Island with a BS in Geology in 1983.
George had many convictions, did the right thing, and was dependable. He was responsible and bravely faced dangerous situations. He spent many years caring for his elderly parents and his mother always said what a wonderful caretaker he was. George was a Captain in the Marine Corps and was proud of his military service. He became enlivened when reminiscing about his time in the military. George was stationed at Camp LeJeune, Parris Island, and Quantico. He coached little league, defended victims of injustices, and stood up for fair outcomes. He protected his sister. He was generous with his time, had a sense of humor, and enjoyed sharing time and food with friends and family. He had perseverance and embraced taking on new tasks (e.g., building a car from scratch!). Despite many difficulties in life and health, George remained brave and faced each challenge with courage and practicality.
