George Rose Phillips

George R. Phillips, 62, of 57 Bayview Park Middletown, formerly of Evarts Street, Newport, died Sunday, July 7, 2002 at Forest Farm Health Care Center Middletown, RI.. Born in Newport, RI on Sep. 18, 1939, he was the son of the late Manuel Phillips and the late Carrie Canard Phillips Moniz. A Vietnam era veteran he served with the US Army. Mr. Phillips worked for the Raytheon Corporation in their shipping and receiving department for more than 25 years retiring in 1992. He attended Jesus Saviour Church. He is survived by 2 sisters Maria Vieira of Toronto, Canada, Ilda Moniz of Middletown, RI, 3 cousins Barbara Wilkinson of Portsmouth, RI, David Canard of Portsmouth, RI, Barbara Zito of East Providence, RI, He was also the stepson of the late Arthur Moniz His funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2002 at 8:00am from the Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway Newport with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00 AM in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway And Vernon Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.
