Jamestown, RI ? Georgena Wetherill Stanger, 91, of 64 Bay View Avenue, Jamestown, RI, died Sunday, August 13, at home, after a short illness. She was the wife of the late John Hallowell Stanger. Born in Philadelphia, PA on July 14, 1915, she was the daughter of Webster King Wetherill and Georgena Vaux Cresson. She was a member of the Conanicut Yacht Club of Jamestown, the Jamestown Garden Club, and St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Jamestown. She was a member of the Acorn Club of Philadelphia, the Free Quaker Society of Philadelphia, the Merion Cricket Club, the National Society of Colonial Dames, and the Hillsboro Club of Pompano Beach FL. She was a former member of St. Davids Episcopal Church in Wayne PA. She was a 1934 graduate of Agnes Irwin School, Rosemont PA. She leaves two daughters, Susan S. Mitchell and Jean H. Stanger, and two grandchilren. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 23, at 11:00 at St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Jamestown. Burial will be in St. Davids Episcopal Churchyard, Wayne PA on Saturday, August 26, at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jamestown Emergency Medical Service or the Vanderbilt Rehailitation Center of the Newport Hosital, Newport, RI.
