Georgene Simmons

Fall River, MA - Georgene Bade Simmons, 66, formerly of 76 Callendar Avenue, Newport, died Thursday, February 15, 2007 at Catholic Memorial Home, Fall River, MA. She was the wife of the late George Robert Simmons. Born in Neptune, NJ on September 23, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Carl Bade and Catherine Chamberlain Mather.Mrs. Simmons owned and operated Newport Reservation Center for 10 years. She also worked at Portobello Jewelry in Newport for 6 years and as a young woman she worked for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and for Quantas Air Lines. Mrs. Simmons was a communicant of St. Josephs Church. She was an avid gardener; painter and she loved to decorate. She is survived by her daughter Allison Courtney Simmons and her husband Timothy Alosi of Walpole, MA, her sister Joanne Mack of Tiverton, RI, and her grandchildren Emma Simmons Alosi and Sam Simmons Alosi of Walpole, MA. She was the sister of the late Carl Bade. A Memorial service will be held at a later date, in the Catholic Memorial Home, 2446 Highland Avenue, Fall River. Burial will be in Island Annex Cemetery in Newport.Calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2007, from 4-7pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
