McOsker, Gerald P., 70, of Middletown, formerly of Little Compton, Newport, and Providence, died June 14, 2010. He was the husband of Marcia Ide McOsker and the son of the late John C. and Ruth E. McOsker.A lifelong resident of Rhode Island, Gerald McOsker was a 1957 graduate of Classical High School, a 1961 graduate of Providence College, and a 1964 graduate of Boston College Law School. After serving in the Army, Mr. McOsker returned to Providence to practice law with his father and his brother, and eventually his daughter. During his 39 years as a lawyer, Mr. McOsker continued to pursue advance degrees in religious studies. Upon his retirement from the law, Mr. McOsker became a lector at Salve Regina University, enjoying every minute. He loved books and was known for his sense of humor, bowties, classic dress and a passionate approach to teaching. Besides his wife, he is survived by his five children, Megan McOsker of Bar Harbor, Maine, Timothy McOsker of Boulder, Colorado, Kristen Humphrey of Little Compton, Rhode Island, Jonathan McOsker of Haleiwa, Hawaii, and Sara Jane Whitehead of Los Angeles, California; two stepchildren, Daisy Gill of Orlando, Florida and Michael Farnum of New Orleans, Louisiana. Mr. McOsker is also survived by six grandchildren: Grace, Ava, Celeste, Ella, Carmen and Jack; and his sister, Susan Rist of San Diego, California and his brother David J. McOsker, Esq. of Newport, Rhode Island. He was the brother of the late Peter J. McOsker of Newport, Rhode Island. He is survived, as well by cousins, nieces and nephews.Mr. McOskers funeral will be Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 9:00am, at St. Lucys Church on 909 West Main Road, Middletown, RI.
