Middletown, RI - Geraldine Jaye Turner Bettencourt, 64, of 407 East Main Road, Middletown, RI, died Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI.She was the wife of Larry J. Bettencourt. Born in Newport, RI on May 15, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Hart Dew and Ruth Bradley Turner.Mrs. Bettencourt worked as a store clerk for Valeteria Cleaners, Carrellas Pharmacy, Goodwill Cleaners, Ho Jos Motel, Walgreens and Charlies 5 + 10. Jaye was also a caregiver for her parents and grandparents. She loved animals, crocheting and needle point. Besides her husband of 46 years, she is survived by her son Larry H. Bettencourt and his wife Donna of Middletown, RI, her daughter Christine B. Lannon and her husband Thomas J. Lannon of Portsmouth, RI, her sister Ruth F. Burns of Texas and five grandchildren, Ronald Hart Bettencourt, James B. Lannon, Emily R. Lannon, Daniel T. Lannon and Geraldine G. Lannon.She was the sister of the late Ellen Oakley. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2009, at 10:00am in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Burial will be in St. Marys Churchyard in Portsmouth.Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 28, 2009, from 2-4 and 7-9 in the funeral home.
