Gertrude Koczon

Gertrude Koczon, 89, of Forest Avenue, Middletown, formerly of Middle Road, Portsmouth, died Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Newport Hospital.She was the former wife of the late Joseph Pobzeznik.Born in Tiverton, RI on June 17, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Mary Brazil Gomes.Mrs. Koczon was a communicant of St. Anthony Church in Portsmouth.She is survived by her son, Wayne Ponik and his wife Pat of Oak Park, CA; her grandchildren, Heather McGuire of Oak Park, CA and Scott Ponik of Portland, OR; and her great-grandchildren, Ella and Callan McGuire.A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at 10 am in St. Anthony Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be private.Calling hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
