Gertrude L. Sherwood

PORTSMOUTH, - Gertrude L. O?Brien Sherwood, 82, of Aquidneck Place, formerly of John Clarke Retirement Center, Valley Road and of 869 Aquidneck Avenue, Middletown, died Friday, September 19, 2003 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI.She was the wife of the late Ret. Navy Cmdr. Edwin ?Monte? Sherwood, D.D.S. Born in Kansas City, MO on June 2, 1921, she was the daughter of the late F. P. OBrien and Livia Ferrin OBrien. Mrs. Sherwood was a member of the United Congregational Church in Middletown. She is survived by her son Gregory P. Sherwood of Middletown, RI, her daughter Roxana S. Murray of Fort Wayne, IN, her sister Ruth O. Denington of Santa Rosa, CA, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.She was the sister of the late James F. OBrien. A Memorial gathering will be held at Aquidneck Place, 125 Quaker Hill Lane, Portsmouth, on Sunday September 21, 2003, at 2:00PM. Donations in her memory may be made to the Newport Hospital Building Fund, 11 Friendship Street, Newport, RI 02840. Arrangements are by the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
