Gertrude M. (Clifford) Halpin, 87, of Middletown, died Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Blenheim Newport in Middletown, RI.She was the wife of the late Charles E. Halpin. Born in New York, NY on October 20, 1927, she was the daughter of the late James and Sarah Ann (Quinn) Clifford.Gertrude retired after a long career as a budget analyst at the Naval Station Newport. She loved to knit, crochet and garden.She is survived by her three sisters, Mary Donovan of Connecticut, Sarah Johnston of Maryland and Margaret Maerkle of New York, her sister-in-law Catherine Clifford and numerous nieces and nephews. Gertrude was predeceased by her son, Charles E. Halpin, Jr., her sister Eleanor Boddy, and her brothers Charles, John and Patrick. Calling hours will be held on Monday April 20, 2015 from 4-7pm in the Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway, Newport.Her funeral will be held on Tuesday April 21, 2015 at 9:00 AM from the Memorial Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway, Newport.Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery, Brown's Lane, Middletown, RI.
