Middletown, RI - Gertrude K. C. Clark Miller, 94, of Blenheim Newport, Middletown, RI, formerly of Riverview Ave, Middletown, died on Sunday, June 14, 2009 in Middletown. She was the wife of the late Ambrose Culver Miller. Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA on October 28, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Edward Ross and Ada Warrin Clark.Mrs. Miller graduated from Wyoming Seminary in Kingston, PA and was a 1936 graduate of Wellesley College. She earned a Masters Degree in Mathematics at the University of North Carolina, graduating in 1938. As a young adult, she did mission work in El Paso, TX and then moved to Philadelphia where she did actuarial work. She lived in various places, from Philadelphia to Glenside, PA, to Windham Center, CT before settling in Middletown, RI in 1960. While raising her family in Middletown, she was a proud volunteer for the American Red Cross and an active member of St. Marys Episcopal Church in Portsmouth. Gertrude was also a lifetime member of the American Association of University Women. She is survived by two sons, Ambrose C. Miller, Jr. and his wife Sally of Wakefield, RI, and Edward Clark Miller and his wife Linda of Connecticut, two daughters, G. Kim Evans and her husband Bill of California and Marianne Miller Jordan and her husband Dave of Texas, a sister Ada Clark Harrigan of Shalimar, FL, and a brother William Warrin Clark of Austin, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren Scott Miller of Rhode Island, Karen Evans and Jessica Evans of California, Catharine E. Weidemann, Richard L. Weidemann, Jr., Edward R. and Benjamin J. Berriault all of Rhode Island, her great granddaughter Cassidy Berriault and great grandson Jarred Michael Jarbeau.She was the mother of the late Susanna M. Weidemann, the Gold Star Grandmother of the late Sgt. Michael R. Weidemann, US Army, and the sister of the late Janet deBissette Clark and Edward Ross Clark, Jr. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 1:00pm, in St. Marys Episcopal Church, East Main Road, Portsmouth followed by a burial in St. Marys Churchyard.
