Gilbert M. Brownell Sr

Middletown, - Gilbert M. ?Gil? Brownell Sr., 86, of 10 King Road Middletown, died Friday, June 27, 2003 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI.He was the husband of the late Frances L. Halfpenny Brownell. Born in Portsmouth, RI on December 26, 1916, he was the son of the late Adolphus and Mary Souza Brownell. Mr. Brownell worked as a self employed fisherman for many years. He later worked for Sakonnet Point Trap Company. He is survived by two sons Gilbert Brownell Jr. and John E. Brownell both of Middletown, RI, two daughters Catherine Alvarez of Saunderstown, RI, and Sandra DelRoss of Tavares, FL, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by two brothers Adolphus Brownell and Alfred Brownell and three sisters Elizabeth Herbrant, Anne Lee, and Evelyn Lentz. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at 8:00 AM from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, followed by a service at 9:00 AM in St. Lucy?s Church, East Main Road, Middletown.Burial will be in Portsmouth Cemetery in Portsmouth.Donations in his memory may be made to the Robert Potter League for Animals, PO Box 412, Middletown, RI 02842.
