Gilda Mello

Newport, RI - Gilda Mello, 83, of 55 Chapel Terrace, Newport, RI, died Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at Heatherwood Nursing And Subacute Center, Newport, RI. Born in Fall River, MA on October 16, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Emolinda Correia Mello.Gilda was a resident of Newport for the last 41 years. She worked in the knitting mills in Fall River for over 25 years. She is survived by her son Jeffrey Mello of Newport, RI and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Frank Mello, and four sisters, Mary Silvia, Mary Cordeira, Constant Cordeira, and Dorothy Arruda. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at 11:00am in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be private.Calling hours will be held on Tuesday morning from 10-11:00a.m. in the funeral home.
