Gladys Lorraine Benz

Gladys Lorraine Benz, age 74, of Portsmouth died Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Newport Hospital of Newport, RI. Mrs. Benz was born September 9, 1940 in Jersey City, NJ. She is the daughter of the late Walter and the late Gertrude (Hosetter) Popielarczyk. She was the wife of the late Bruce Benz. Gladys was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Middletown, and loved playing Bingo. She worked at the Ames Department store in Middletown for many years. She loved spending time with her family and adored her grandchildren. She was loved by her many friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughters Diane Benz of Newport, RI and Gina Horner of Providence, RI and her four granddaughters, Kayla and Shawna Horner of Providence, RI and Raven Rush and Mya Benz of Newport, RI. Calling hours will be held on Friday January 23, 2015 from 3-6pm in the Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway, Newport. Her funeral service will be immediately following calling hours at 6pm.
