Gladys Marion Sexton

MIDDLETOWN - Gladys M. Lynam Sexton, 82, of 14 Shangri-La Lane Middletown, RI, died Saturday, April 23, 2005 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, RI. She was the beloved wife of Carlton A. Sexton, to whom she was married to for 61 years. Gladys and Carlton lived in Middletown for most of that time. Born in New Bedford, MA on December 2, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Marion Stanton Lynam.Mrs. Sexton worked in her husband?s watch repair shop on Thames Street for many years, and as a bookkeeper for the Navy Exchange for 17 years, retiring in 1975. After her retirement, she and her husband continued to enjoy sailing and traveling throughout the United States in their motor home.She is survived by her husband Carlton A. Sexton, a son Carlton A. Sexton Jr. and his wife Susan of Pasadena, MD, and a son Richard F. Sexton and his wife Mayte of Miami, FL, grandchildren Matthew Sexton, Elizabeth Sexton, Michael Sexton and Richard Sexton, two brothers Paul Lynam and his wife Anna of Brooksville, FL, and Donald Lynam and his wife Michelle of Rocklin, CA, and many nieces and nephews.Her funeral will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at 11:00AM in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI. Private burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery.
