Middletown, RI - Gloria D. Rose Sly, of 13 Phillips Avenue, Middletown, RI, formerly of 67 Linden Street, Middletown, died Monday, March 13, 2006, at the Grand Islander Health Care Center, Middletown, RI. Born in Middletown, RI, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria Garcia Rose.Mrs. Sly had worked as a nurses aide at the former Carriage House Nursing Home for many years. She had also worked at the Newport Hospital for a short time. Mrs. Sly was a Communicant of St. Josephs Church. She is survived by a son Donald Sly Jr. of Portsmouth, RI, three daughters Shiela Bertolino of Homestead, FL, Jackie Byers of Kenton, OH, and Maureen Black of Middletown, RI, seven grandchildren Michelle, Robert, Dawn, Charles, Maureen, James, and Lewis, and five great grandchildren.Her funeral will be held on Friday, March 17, 2006, at 8:00 a.m. from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. in St. Josephs Church, Broadway and Mann Avenue, Newport.Burial will be in Middletown Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2006, from 7-9 p.m. in the Memorial Funeral Home.
