Gloria Eloise Gibbons

Gloria Eloise Williams Gibbons, 79, formerly of 8 Bradford Avenue, Newport, RI, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2010 at the Village House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Newport.She was the wife of Charles E. Gibbons.Born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on September 15, 1930, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Ivy Mildred Seale Williams.Mrs. Gibbons was a legal secretary for the late Judge Francis J. Boyle for 25 years before retiring in 1995.An avid golfer, she was a member of Green Valley Country Club in Portsmouth. She also enjoyed reading and was a member of the Urban League. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Charles E. Gibbons II of Belfair, WA and Michael D. Gibbons of Rumford, RI; her brother, Ronald Williams of Montreal, Quebec, Canada; her sister, Shirley Durant, also of Montreal, Quebec, Canada; three grandchildren, Tisha Marie Wosencroft, Jacob Alan Gibbons and Jared Austin Gibbons; and many nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late Lloyd Williams.Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 10 am in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Burial will follow in Newport Memorial Park in MiddletownCalling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Urban League of RI, 246 Prairie Avenue, Providence, RI 02905.
