Grace Elinor Corbett

Grace E. Hayes Corbett, 94, of Randolph Road, Yarmouthport, RI, died Sunday, July 18, 2010 at St. Clare Home in Newport. She was the wife of the late John W. Corbett, Sr. Born in Peabody, MA, on September 13, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Marjorie Driscoll Hayes.Mrs. Corbetts family would like to thank St. Clare Home for their excellent care and where she was made to feel welcome in her new home. A devout Catholic, she was a staunch advocate for human life. She was a former volunteer for Birthright and was a member of the Carmelite Third Order for many years. She was an avid reader and belonged to many book clubs on the Cape. She is survived by her son, John W. Corbett, Jr. and his wife Susan of Middletown, RI, her daughter, Marjorie Corbett of St. Louis, MO, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Arthur and Charles Hayes.Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at 8 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown. Burial in Massachusetts National Veterans Cemetery in Bourne, MA will be private.Calling hours will be held Monday, July 19, 2010 from 5-7 pm in the funeral home.
