Grace Jean Smith

Grace J. (Ogilvie) Smith, 77, of First Street, Portsmouth, RI, passed away at home on Wednesday, March 9, 2016.Born on July 11, 1938 in Stonington, ME, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Laura (Barbour) Ogilvie.Mrs. Smith worked at the Grand Islander Nursing Center in Middletown, RI for over 20 years before retiring as a supervisor. She was a member of the Portsmouth Senior Center and loved reading. Grace especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.She is survived by her five children, Laurie Smith of Portsmouth, RI, Cindy Buck and her husband, Richard, of Cranston, RI, Wayne Smith and his wife, Rebecca, of Barrington, RI, Delores Socall of Portsmouth, RI and Carrie McBee of Urricksville, OH; her sister, Glenna Austin of Parker, CO; she was the grandmother of eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and the aunt to several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be private.In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Portsmouth Senior Center, 110 Bristol Ferry Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
