Grace R. Villar Day, 83, of 133 Newport Avenue, Middletown, formerly of Staten Island, NY, died Friday, August 8, 2003 at Miriam Hospital Providence, RI. She was the wife of Edward N. Day. Born in New York, NY on Apr. 8, 1920, she was the daughter of John Villar and Grace Gettings Villar. Mrs. Day moved from Staten Island to Middlteown in 1988. She had worked as an office manager for Rutgers Distributors of Staten Island for 15 years before retiring in 1987.She was a communicant of St. Marys Church, Newport. She was a former communicant of St. John the Baptist de la Salle Church, Staten Island, NY. She was a member of the Stapleton New York Civic Association and was active with the Visiting Nurse Association Thrift Shop in Stapleton. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, William J. Day of Middletown, RI, and Timothy S. Day of Stamford, CT; one daughter, Elizabeth G. Mindlin of Manhatten, NY; one brother Robert Villar of Riverview, FL; and one Grandson. She was the mother of the late Edward J. Day and sister of the late John Villar, Joan Villar and Mary Nallan.Her funeral will be held Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 08:00 AM from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial at 09:00 AM in St. Marys Church, Spring Street, Newport.
