Grace Toner

Newport, RI - Grace A. Congdon Toner, 92, of 46 Park Holm, Newport, RI, died Thursday, August 21, 2008 at Newport Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Frank A. Toner. Born in Scituate, RI on June 26, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Winfield S. and Nellie Allen Congdon. Mrs. Toner worked as an assembler at Raytheon for 12 years before retiring. Previously, she had worked at Toners Diner for many years. She is survived by her sons, Richard Toner of Middletown, RI and Frank A. Toner, Jr., of Middletown, RI and Florida, her daughters, Margaret Peabody of Newport, RI, Anne Gomes of Newport, RI, Elizabeth Paradise of Portsmouth, RI and Helen Albro of Newport, RI, twenty- three grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.She was the sister of the late George and Thomas Congdon and the grandmother of the late Robert Peabody and Lisa Marie Garcia. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at 9 am in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway and Vernon Avenue, Newport. Calling hours are omitted.
