Grace Virginia Weibust

Grace Virginia (Deplitch) Weibust, 90, of Curry Avenue, Newport, RI, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family at The Village House in Newport, RI on Saturday, June 21, 2014.She was the wife of the late Lloyd Walker Weibust.Born in Fall River, MA on May 30, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Albert Irving and Margaret Irene (Flynn) Deplitch.Mrs. Weibust was a devoted housewife and mother when life was simpler in the 1950's. She doted on her grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as Mum mum.Grace was fortunate to meet and spend time with her five beautiful great-grandchildren. She loved to travel, sing, dance and laugh; happiest with family and friends. Grace was a founding member of the North End Club in Middletown and was Santa's assistant at the annual Christmas party. She took great pleasure in decorating her house for the holidays, especially Christmas. Grace helped backstage at the Helen O'Neill School of Ballet with hair, make-up and costumes.She was predeceased by her daughter, Carol Moriarty, formerly of Virginia and is survived by her sons, Lloyd Weibust and his wife, Beth, of Jamestown, RI and Richard Weibust and his wife, Marianne, of Middletown, RI; her son-in-law, Richard Moriarty of Virginia; her sisters, Claire Brightman of Fairhaven, MA and Janice Deplitch of Colorado; her grandchildren, Kristi Moriarty, Jessica Moriarty Abbott and her husband, Rob, Matthew Moriarty and his wife, Lauren, Ryan Weibust and his wife, Brandy, Casey Weibust, Ashley Weibust Wilmot and her husband, Ian, and Chelsea Weibust; her great-grandchildren, Makenzie Moriarty, Izabella Moriarty, Gracen Moriarty, Samuel Abbott and James Abbott.She was predeceased by her brother, William Deplitch.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2014 from 11 am to 12:30 pm in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI. A memorial service will follow at 12:30 pm in the funeral home. Inurnment will be held in Newport Memorial Park, Middletown, RI.In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (www.st.jude.org/donate).
