Gregory James Chase

Jamestown, RI - Gregory James Chase, 46, of Jamestown, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2014 at Newport Hospital after a long illness. Born in Newport, RI on July 22, 1967, he was the son of Carol E. (Reynolds) Chase of Charlestown, RI and the late John Rogers Chase. Greg was a graduate of North Kingstown High School where he played basketball and tennis, beginning his lifelong love of sports. He continued on to Colgate University and graduated in 1989 with a degree in Religion and Philosophy. In 2001, he completed his training to be a Doctor of Acupuncture at the NW Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. In his youth he taught at Rocky Hill School and coached the tennis team. He was an avid New England Patriots fan and loved sports in general.He is survived by his mother Carol Chase of Charlestown, RI, and his brother Dean Chase and his wife Mary Chase of Portsmouth, RI. On Sunday February 2, calling hours will be held between 11 am and 1 pm followed by a Buddhist Funeral service in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
