Harold W. "Mickey" Mcpherson, Iii

Harold W. "Mickey" McPherson, III, 57, of Middletown died Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Newport Hospital.He was the husband of Gloria (Southworth) McPherson.Born on December 14, 1957, in Newport, RI, he was the son of Harold W. and Ann (Calassa) McPherson of Missouri and Florida. Mickey grew up in Newport, graduated from Rogers High School and worked with his father and grandfather at McPherson's Plumbing. In 1986 he opened his own business "Mickey's Maintenance", and also began a career with the City of Newport, where he worked at the Newport Water Department at the Water Treatment Plant and later at the Newport School Department. He also drove for several local tow truck companies over the years. Growing up Mickey was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed restoring cars, camping, and as a young child roller skating. Mickey was always staying busy.Besides his wife of 37 years, and his parents, he is survived by his children, Brandon Southworth of Newport, Jimmy McPherson and his companion Valerie Jeffres of Excelsior Springs, MO, and Jean McPherson of Wakefield, RI, his sisters Kelly A. McPherson of Missouri and Dr. Kimberly G. Perry and her husband Dr. Christopher Perry and their son Andrew of Missouri, and his grandchildren Taylor, Connor, Cameron, Ethan, Logan, Christian and Avery. He also leaves his mother in law Mildred Southworth of Portsmouth, many brothers in law and sisters in law, aunts, uncles and cousins, and many nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by many old friends, especially Mike and Cindy Dore of Maine.He was the brother of the late Bruce A. McPherson.Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 3, 2015 from 4:00-8:00pm in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.His funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 4 at 11:00, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
