Harriet Reed

WEST PALM BEACH, FL - Harriet Dyer Reed, 75, of 389 South Lake Drive, Palm Beach, FL, died Monday, April 25, 2005, after a brief illness. She was the wife of Stanley F. Reed Jr., a New York Attorney, who she married in 1949. Born in New York, NY on December 10, 1929, she was the daughter of the late W. Gurnee and Betty Tailer Dyer.Mrs. Reed, a resident of Palm Beach, summered in Newport, where she was active in local charities. Until recently, she served on the Board of Trustees of the Alletta M. McBean Charitable Trust, which supports activites on Aquidneck Island. She was also formerly a member of the Board of Trustees of the Preservation Society of Newport County. Mrs. Reed was also a former President of the Colony Club of New York and a board member of the Newport Country Club. Along with her husband of 56 years, she is survived by her children Stanley F. Reed III of London, England, Walter G.D. Reed of Providence, RI, and Harriet R. Harris of Dover, MA, and five grandchildren Alexandra B. Harris, Peter W. Harris Jr. and A. Reed Harris all of Dover, MA, Katherine Reed of London, England and Lindsay T. Reed of Providence, RI.She was the sister of the late Daisy Dyer Palmer. A Memorial service will be held on Monday, May 2, 2005, at 11:00am, in St. Columba Berkeley Memorial Chapel, 55 Vaucluse Avenue, Middletown.Burial will be private.
