Harrison J. ?Harry? Murdock, 89, of 36 Caswell Avenue, Newport, died Sunday, August 31, 2003, at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI.He was the husband of Josephine Trifero Murdock for 61 years. Born in Newport, RI on April 3, 1914, he was the son of the late William Stuckey and Ella McNeil Murdock. Mr. Murdock had worked for the US Postal Service for 15 years, retiring February 4, 1973. He had also worked as a supervisory clerk with the Naval Underwater Ordinance for 17 years. Mr. Murdock had also worked with the social security department in Baltimore, Maryland and the Army Coprs Engineers of Little Compton, RI. He was a Veteran of the US Army, serving during WWII in India for the Army Corps of Engineers. Mr. Murdock was a member of the Red Men since 1935. He was a Graduate of Rogers High School, Class of 1932, and a Graduate of Bryant College, Class of 1937. He and his wife married in Newport in 1942. Besides his wife he survived by a son William Murdock of Newport, RI, two daughters JoAnne MacKnight of Portsmouth, RI, and Paula Murdock of Newport, RI, and one granddaughter Carmella MacKnight. He was preceded in death by his step father George Murdock and his step mother Ruby Stuckey, and a son Harrison Murdock Jr. His funeral will be held Thursday, September 4, 2003, at 11:00AM in Emmanuel Church, 42 Dearborn Street, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery, Brown?s Lane, Middletown.
