Harry A. Mayer, Jr

Newport, RI - Harry A. Mayer, Jr., 86, of 398 Bellevue Avenue, Newport, RI, formerly of Philadelphia, PA, died on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Newport Hospital. Born in Astoria, NY on Nov. 15, 1923, he was the son of the late Harry A. and Ottillie Kempt Mayer.Mr. Mayer was a baker in Philadelphia in the town of Olmey at Knab Bakery. He enjoyed playing the piano and collecting and building model trains. His enjoyment in trains started at an early age as he watched the trains if Philly and even jumped on the local trains. He is survived by a brother John Mayer and his wife Elaine of Middletown, RI, his sister Norma OBrien of Baird, TX and several nieces and nephews.
